How service barter works
Start with two needs. One person needs a website. Another needs help learning guitar. Both people describe the work they can offer and decide whether the exchange suits them.
Before starting, agree on the scope, timing and value of each service. A clear agreement helps both people know what a completed trade looks like.
Quid Pro is a skill exchange app that records agreed trades and credits. You can browse offers, discuss the work, and make a proposal in the app.
What skills can you exchange?
Think about a task you can finish well and describe clearly. These are examples of possible offers, not live Quid Pro listings.
- Design a logo or a simple brand guide for a small business.
- Build a website page or help someone fix a computer issue.
- Teach a beginner guitar lesson or help someone practise a language.
- Offer home repairs or practical help within your qualifications.
A specific offer is easier to assess. Instead of writing “design help,” explain what you will deliver, how many revisions you include, and when it will be ready. Check the Terms of Use for what you can post.
Local help or remote services?
Some work needs an in-person visit. Other work, such as website design or a lesson over a video call, can happen remotely. Quid Pro supports both.
Read the listing's delivery method. For local work, agree on a suitable meeting place. For remote work, agree on the tools, files and handoff before you begin.
Agree on value before you start
On Quid Pro, members set credit values for their offers and agree on the trade before accepting it. Do not assume that every service or every hour has the same value.
Credits record the work exchanged. They currently have no cash value and cannot be cashed out. Read how Quid Pro trades and credits work before your first proposal.
Choose work you can assess
Ask about experience, look at the listing photos, and discuss the result you need. A Certification checked badge means our team has checked a submitted certification for that service. It does not mean every member is certified.
For work that requires a licence or other qualifications, check what is required and whether the person can provide it. You can report a concern or block a member in the app. The support page explains how.
